The 6300sqm development, located in Barley Place, Canning Vale, includes an innerspring mattress factory, office space and a showroom. It is the latest new build by the iconic Australian manufacturer, who has completed developments in other capital cities also.

Thomas Building was chosen to complete the development that also includes a first-aid room, board room, unloading facilities, male and female change rooms, courtyards, sales and training areas and a lunch room and canteen.

Thomas building used tilt-up panel walls, a structured steel roof to the warehouse and steel-stud frame and lining to the (approx.) 1000sqm office space, for the Peter Young and Co designed property (Sealy’s preferred architect).

Thomas Building was provided with strict guidelines to follow when building the new facility, according to Sealy’s standards and in keeping with the style of its past developments in other areas of Australia.

Sealy Managing Director Simon Dyer pointed out that the Perth factory is over a third bigger than its previous one, demonstrating the growth that the company has created in the local landscape.

"In 2006, we built the new office at Wacol, Brisbane and over the past 10 years we’ve come right around Australia – Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide – and now to Perth," he said. "We’ve built this new factory because we believe in the bedding industry, we believe in local manufacturing and we believe in Perth and Western Australia.

"Our mattresses are handcrafted to order, from the engineering in the springs to the stitching in the fabric, so every quality detail comes down to the space we operate in and the team who work hard to deliver perfection every time. The team’s longstanding employees in our Canning Vale site are a testament to the work environment they’ve created. This really is a proud moment for Sealy locally and nationally."

The new facility is home to 35 full-time staff and also provides Sealy with greater training facilities for its partner retailers.
